UK Slip Resistance Group announces Slips, Trips and Falls Conference

The UK Slip Resistance Group has announced a conference entitled Slips, Trips and Falls, The Way Forward which takes place in London on the 4th – 5th October 2016.

According to the UK Slip Resistance group slips, trips and fall accidents are the single largest cause of injury worldwide. The conference aims to share ideas and the latest research on developing solutions to prevent people falling on floors, from stairs and heights. Amongst the speakers will be experts from the flooring industry who will describe the latest ways in which the floor industry is tackling safety issues.

Christian Harris of Bonasystems will focus on barefoot areas that pose significant risks of slipping. These include swimming pools, changing rooms and bathrooms. Harris will look at the best practices for these areas including the choice of floor coverings, cleaning and maintenance.

Simon Hall will give a presentation for the Tile Association on floor cleaning and methods for testing slip resistance.

Pauls Rogers of Forbo Flooring will speak about entrance areas that are vulnerable to contamination from outside. An appropriate entrance flooring system can deal with wet or dry contaminates that enter a building.

Mike Minett of Ployfloor will present latest technology on vinyl resilient safety flooring.

The closing session of the conference is an opportunity to discuss the lessons learnt from all the seminars.

When installing solid flooring in Cheshire commercial or domestic buildings, it is recommended that non slip floor coverings are used, and that floors are cleaned regularly. A professional installer can advise on its care.
