Turn sheds into luxury summer houses with wood flooring

Most people have spent more time in their homes during the Covid-19 pandemic. Do-it-yourself activities have increased as householders seek to improve their homes. One of the most popular projects is converting a garden shed into a luxury summer house, and many conversions start with replacing the floor with wood flooring.

Google searches for “shed conversions” increased by 284% during the months of April and May 2021. Searches for the keywords “summer house conversions” have also increased.

Speaking to the Express, Johnpaul Manning of Insulation4Less said there are many ways to improve a garden shed. Windows can be replaced, and skylights added for lots of natural light. Connecting the shed to a power source enables heating and lighting to be added. To keep the warmth in, add quality insulation. Draughts can be eliminated with sealing foam.

Most sheds have plastic or rough wood floors. Replacing the floor, however, makes a huge difference. Add a solid wood floor or engineered flooring for a less expensive option. Herringbone parquet flooring is popular. Make sure that the shed has been made waterproof before installing a new wood floor. The original door may need replacing if it lets in water.

When installing new wood flooring in your Cheshire or Wirral home, purchase extra planks if you have a garden shed that could do with improving. Whether you use the converted shed as a relaxing summer house or a home office, real natural wood adds a touch of luxury to any outbuilding.
