The truth about carpet cleaning in Liverpool

There are some interesting truths about carpets and how to look after them, such as:

Even “clean” carpets need cleaning

You may assume that just because a carpet looks clean, it doesn’t need cleaning. In reality, carpets are engineered to hide soils, so by the time it’s visually obvious, the fibres of your carpet will have been damaged by dirt particles. It’s generally recommended to have your carpets professionally cleaned around every 6 to 12 months.

Carpet cleaning doesn’t cause mould or mildew in your carpet

This would only happen if the carpet was left soaking for days, because mould and mildew thrive in moist environments. Any good carpet cleaner will use equipment that extracts the vast majority of the water, sometimes leaving your carpet ready for use again after just a few hours.

Cheap deals do not always give the best value

You may see some great deals advertised in the classifieds section of the Liverpool Echo, but don’t try to save money by hiring carpet cleaners that don’t use modern technology and quality supplies, or who lack professional training.

Powder deodorisers are not a permanent solution

Many people in Liverpool love their pets, but your furry friends are not always as respectful of your carpets. The best way to eliminate odour from urine stains is to remove the source, and professional extraction machines can do this.

Sprinkling a powder deodoriser over a contaminated area might absorb some of the odour for a while, but it will ultimately return. In the meantime, the powder left in the carpet, even after vacuuming, will cause additional wear on the carpet fibres.
