Top design trend features nature

According to a recent report, bringing elements of nature indoors is a top design theme for 2020 that is set continue throughout 2021, and it features wood flooring.

Hadley Keller, writing for House Beautiful, looked at the annual Kingston Design Showhouse to identify the top design trends. The Kingston Design Connection is a collaboration project between artists, designers, contractors and retailers. Every year, the group designs a home to showcase brilliant design and invites the public to visit. Its goal is to build up a community using design.

Keller viewed the home and said that “bring[ing] nature in” was the top design theme. She says a home that includes natural materials, such as wood flooring, is a happy place. According to House Beautiful, designer Ana Shultz said:

“It’s about how you feel the moment you walk in the door.”

As well as using materials from nature like wood, the show home features mountain range wallpaper and a sky blue pendant. A rug shaped like a waterfall at the bottom of the stairs in the hallway welcomes visitors to the home.

Many people are not venturing out during the COVID-19 pandemic, so instead, they are bringing the outside indoors. Most wood floor installers are now working and are available to create a natural feel to a home by installing solid or engineered wood flooring

Natural wood flooring is popular in Cheshire homes, as it reminds households of the beauty of Cheshire’s countryside and forests.
