The Open sees Wirral property rental prices skyrocket

When the Open returns to the Royal Liverpool Golf Club later this year, as well as the usual hospitality suites being offered to the galaxy of golfing superstars and their entourages, local rental properties are also being compiled to accommodate the increased number of visitors to the area.

Hoylake Lawn Tennis Club has put itself forward with its clubhouse, bar, parking facilities and practice courts. Whilst the £20,000 per week asking price for this corporate hospitality suite may be reasonable for Rory McIlroy or Tiger Woods, and it is possible that the mega stars will seek resplendent and luxurious hotels, locals are excited about the prospect of temporary celebrity lodgers.

It is thought that the relative shortage of hotels in the area is prompting the drive, and the tournaments “accommodation bureau” is receiving an increasing number of requests from golfers and their agents. They expect demand to increase as the tournament gets closer when more participants learn their qualification status.

Indeed, over 300 properties across Hoylake, West Kirby and Caldy are being put forward as potential rental venues during the tournament and residents are safely asking for up to £35,000 for the privilege of those involved in this prestigious event to share their living space and practice their putting on the laminate flooring. Wirral residents are inundating the accommodation bureau with requests to be included on the register of approved lodging. Excitement in the area is building and as well as being star-struck, the local economy is bound to benefit.
