Report details growth in contract flooring market

A recent report from AMA Research has examined the contract flooring market and observed growth in the sector.

AMA Research produces market reports for the building and construction industry, and has recently published a report entitled ‘Contract Floorcoverings Market Report – UK 2016 – 2020 Analysis’. The report looks at the state of the flooring market and includes a detailed assessment of future trends.

The contract flooring market has grown by 7% since 2011. Though carpet and carpet tiles have the largest share of the market, the report highlights that the main change over the last few years in the commercial flooring market is the increasing use of ‘smooth’ floors. These include wood, laminate and vinyl.

Despite the competition from these flooring materials, the contract carpet market experienced 3% growth in 2015. This was the result of increases in refurbishment and new builds projects.

Contract wood flooring has experienced a significant 12% growth in 2015 due to demand in the retail, leisure, office and hotel sectors.

There have been several innovations in floor coverings, including better slip resistance technology that makes floors safer in health, leisure and education buildings.

Porcelain tiles sold at a high price have had increased in sales too – especially ones featuring stone effect designs.

The AMA report predicts that the floor covering market will increase by around 3% annually in the next few years. In this buoyant market, there are many quality coverings available for contract flooring in the Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales regions.
