Pub’s wooden floor dining pods are a hit

The Plough, a pub near Sevenoaks, has created a new dining concept to attract diners – pods with wood flooring.

The round pods seat up to six guests for drinks and a meal. They are covered in clear plastic and are fully isolated from other pub users. The pods feature their own Bluetooth speakers for guests to enjoy their personal music playlists, they have wooden floors and are heated. Some of the pods even have their own bar.

The landlord, Alfie Johnson, said:

“I think it’s something different, we are going to be the only people with these pods in Kent, and people like something different.”

Initial bookings have been very high, with over 200 parties booked for the three pods. The finishing touches to the pods are being made ready for the first guests – the wood flooring is being sanded to make it look pristine, and the furniture is being installed.

The pods are aimed at people who want a night out whilst being socially distanced from other guests. They are restricted to six people, the maximum number allowed to gather according to the current government rules.

Wood flooring is chosen by many Wirral and Cheshire homeowners for its look and practicality. Wood flooring is easy to keep clean and lasts a long time. It may be unnecessary to have garden pods for outside dining, but many homes have installed luxury sheds with wood flooring to use as a home office while remote working.
