Parquet is key to growth of flooring market

A recent report by market research company Technavio predicted parquet flooring to be a growing trend that will significantly contribute to the success of the Europeam flooring market.

The Technavio report on the European floor coating market looked at the rising demand for parquet flooring. Whilst the style has been around for many decades, recent technological advances have made parquet flooring more attractive to both private and commercial organisations.

The report defines parquet flooring as involving:

“…the use of geometrically-shaped wood pieces to form a mosaic and increase the aesthetic appeal of wood floors.”

Nano-coating technology has made parquet flooring resistant to chemicals, scratches and corrosion. Modern coatings create parquet flooring that is anti-microbial and self–cleaning, making them ideal for the healthcare industries or situations where health and safety is a priority.

Nano-coating also means that flooring retains its colour and gloss longer than conventional flooring.

In the past, wooden floor coverings were often laid first before applying finishing solutions. Increasingly though, wooden floor coverings are being treated before laying. Hardwood floors treated in the factory before laying often have more finishing coats applied than site finished floors. This makes them more durable and easier to maintain.

The report also looked at the growing consolidation of floor coating firms, with many manufacturers taking over or merging with other companies.

Companies and individuals installing hardwood flooring in their Wirral and North Wales properties should consider parquet flooring for a hardwearing and easy maintenance option.
