Pantone predicts colour trends for 2016

The Pantone organization is the creator of the Pantone Color Matching System that catalogues colours. As the world’s leading experts on colour, they have predicted the colours that designers will favour next year

Carlstadt, New Jersey, and its products are used by many industries, including plastics manufacturers, fabric design, paints and the printing industry.

The 2016 palette consists of calming colours. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute said:

“We are continuing to yearn for those softer shades that offer a sense of calm and relaxation.”

Though the Pantone trends are initially seen in fashion, they also influence the colours used in both the home and work environments, especially because these colours can either induce a calm, relaxed atmosphere, or one that is more conducive to energy and productivity. In today’s stressful high technological world, there are times to switch off laptops and mobile phones and unwind, and the colours reflect the need for us to do this.

Many interior designers in the north of England tend to experiment with the season’s trends, while incorporating more traditional elements for the home that never go out of style, such as hardwood flooring. Cheshire homes and workplaces may reflect the new trend dictated by the world experts on colour, but that remains to be seen.
