New woodblock flooring mixes contemporary with traditional

Flooring experts have suggested that new large format parquet woodblock flooring is suitable for rooms that mix the contemporary with the traditional.

Decor that mixes a modern look with a classic twist is currently a popular trend. Parquet solid wood floors can be laid in a variety of interesting patterns to create a traditional looking floor that is very durable and is particularly suitable for high traffic areas including halls and living rooms.

Many people match a solid wood floor with traditional wood furniture, but the classic contemporary style mixes modern styles with classic touches. In this look, the furniture may date in a decade or so, but the floor will last for a long time and will not look out of place when newer style furniture is purchased.

Large format tiles that are around double the size of standard floor block are particularly suitable for the classic contemporary look. According to Ed Marshall, the head of wood flooring manufacturer Boral Timber, these can:

“Create a cleaner, more contemporary feel, while still embodying the aesthetics of heritage architecture. They also look great as they’re more in keeping with the space’s proportions.”

Parquetry flooring is more expensive than alternatives such as laminates and LVT, but woodblock flooring in Wirral homes adds a luxury feel whether it is matched with more traditional decor or a modern style. Woodblock flooring will add to the value of most Wirral homes and will last a long time as long as they are installed by professionals.
