New hybrid bamboo and eucalyptus flooring developed

Californian flooring manufacturer Cali Bamboo has developed the world’s first hybrid flooring material that combines environmentally friendly bamboo and eucalyptus woods.

By developing its hybrid flooring range, Cali Bamboo is catering for the high demand for eco-friendly flooring solutions.

Eucalyptus is a fast growing tree. It is ready to cut down after around 14 years of growth and is a very sustainable crop, in addition to being both hard wearing and inexpensive.

Bamboo, though a variety of grass, is an alternative to hardwood. The bamboo used in flooring comes from sustainable sources. It takes three to five years to mature and has become a popular floor choice for those who want an environmentally friendly floor covering.

The hybrid range of floor covering is the first time that the two materials have been combined to create a flooring material. The surface of the hybrid planks is finished with an aluminium oxide finish, which makes them scratch resistant. It is available in a range of seven natural wood colours from light natural to the dark Malibu shade. It has wide 7½ inch tongue and groove planks that make it quick and easy to install.

Jeff Goldberg, Head of Cali Bamboo, said that his hybrid floor coverings will “make a huge impact of the future of the planet.”

Cali Bamboo Hybrid flooring is not currently available in the United Kingdom, but consumers wanting environmentally friendly flooring can install bamboo or eucalyptus wood flooring in their Cheshire or North Wales home.
