Michelin star Welsh restaurant praised for wood decor

The Whitebrook in Monmouthshire is one of five Welsh restaurants to be awarded stars in the 2021 Michelin Guide, which praised its wood flooring.

As well as wood flooring, the restaurant features solid wood counters, room dividers and roof beams. The guide noted that:

“The isolated woodland feel is all part of its inherent charm and the nature-inspired colour theme and rustic wood flooring suit the location down to a tee.”

The Michelin Guide’s comments show that the atmosphere and decor of a restaurant are perhaps just as important as the quality of the food.

Chris Harrod, Chef Patron of the Whitebrook, uses locally sourced ingredients and herbs foraged from the surrounding valley for dishes served in the relaxing ambience of the wood decor. The restaurant is currently closed due to national restrictions, but it hopes to open again in the spring.

Many people staying at home are using money saved by not going on holiday or having an active social life to renovate the home. Fine dining restaurants combine excellent decor with good food, and they can also be a source of style ideas to be applied in the home. The interior of the Whitebrook shows how the liberal use of wood flooring and wooden features creates a beautiful, natural aesthetic.

Wood flooring in Cheshire homes looks great, is durable and long-lasting – it’s an investment that adds financial value to the home. After installing a new wood floor, you could celebrate with a meal-in-a-box delivered to your home from a top-quality restaurant.
