Luxury butcher shop features polished wood floors

Farmison & Co, the online butcher, has opened its first shop in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The founder of Farmison and its CEO, John Pallagi, wanted to make a visit to the butcher a luxury experience, and the installation of polished wooden floors has contributed to this.

Inspired by the famous Tiffany jewellery store, Pallagi has created a shop that features glass cabinets and marble display trays, alongside its polished wood floors, to crate the luxury feel. According to The Grocer, he said:

“I wanted to create a Tiffany’s moment, something that celebrated meat in the way you might want to walk in and see a piece of gold or a diamond ring.”

A glass wall provides views of the butchers cutting up the meat. Customers are encouraged to browse and watch the butchers at work without being bothered by salespeople. Different cuts are presented to encourage customers to try less popular types of meat. Andrew Carrington, the Head Butcher at Farmison, demonstrates his skills and teaches customers how to create the best cuts.

The shop also sells Farmison’s range of condiments, sauces and saucepans, and it is a collection point for online orders.

Physical stores face strong competition from online retailers. The key to getting people back into stores is perhaps to follow Farmison’s example by making shopping more of a luxury experience. Solid wood flooring in Cheshire and Wirral shops or other commercial properties is an excellent way to add a touch of luxury that improves the customer experience.
