Latest floor coverings for a quiet home

In business premises and the home, many people want to work or relax in a quiet environment. There have been a number of recent developments in floor covering technology that can reduce noise.

EnviroQuiet II floor covering has just been launched in the United States. The covering is glued down on a floor to reduce noise levels. EnviroQuiet II is made from 3.2 mm thick LVT which is attached to a 3mm thick acoustical backing. On top of the covering is a wear layer to make it durable. It is available in two grades, commercial and residential. The commercial grade has a denser rubber backing and wear layer and is suitable for high traffic areas.

Another solution is Future Foam that is installed under hard floors. As well as absorbing sound, the foam prevents mould and mildew which makes it ideal for wet environments like bathrooms and kitchens.

For people who prefer carpets, sound absorbing padding can be installed beneath them.

In new build homes, acoustical sound boards can be laid beneath the subfloor which isolates sound before it is reflected into a room.

Cork floor coverings are also a good solution to dampen noise. They are also environmentally friendly as the manufacturing process need not involve cutting down trees.

For people or businesses that want a quiet life there are a number of acoustical flooring solutions available or being developed. When installing solid flooring in a Cheshire home or business, consider choosing a floor that will absorb noise.
