Laminate flooring market forecast to grow

A report by Data Bridge Market Research has predicted that the worldwide laminate flooring market will grow by 5.2% from 2020 to 2027.

There has been an increase in home renovation activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, with more people staying at home. Hard flooring, including wood, engineered wood and laminate, are very popular choices when renovating a home as they are easy to clean for hygiene-aware households. Aside from a regular clean, laminate flooring requires no maintenance. It is also suitable for use in commercial properties.

Laminate’s ability to look like real wood at a lower cost than timber is a major reason for its popularity. Most floor retailers and installers are now open and stock a range of laminates that can be seen and touched – an advantage over online stores.

According to figures published by the European Producers of Laminate Flooring, in 2019, there were 447 million square metres of laminate flooring sold by European producers. This was down from 1.5% compared to the previous year. Data for 2020 has not yet been published, but it is expected that the sales figures will rise due to the heightened interest in home renovations this year.

Some households have installed laminate flooring themselves as they are reluctant to let installers into their homes. Homeowners who want laminate flooring in Cheshire should not be concerned, however, as local flooring installers are COVID-aware, taking extra precautions to make sure that there is no risk when installing new laminate flooring.
