Is it worth investing in waterproof hardwood flooring in Cheshire?

In 2019, waterproof hardwood flooring was developed and sales are expected to rise in 2020. Is this flooring a good choice for Cheshire rooms?

Natural wood flooring looks beautiful but has one drawback, it does not like excessive water. This is not a problem provided that spills, pet accidents or mud from shoes on a wet Cheshire day are wiped up as soon as possible. Standard wood flooring is not suitable for high moisture areas like bathrooms or utility rooms.

Waterproof hardwood flooring is made from natural wood, which is treated with a top waterproof layer that prevents water infiltration. An added benefit is that the treatment also helps prevent scratches, scuffs and other wear and tear marks.

The range of wood coverings available in waterproof versions is limited and it costs more than non-waterproof wood. If the floor is sanded to re-finish it, the waterproof layer will be removed, but it will be a long time before the wood floor looks worn.

There are coatings available to treat existing floors to make them water-resistant, but not completely waterproof.

When considering installing hardwood flooring in Cheshire property, for most rooms, natural wood is a good choice as long as you are mindful to wipe up spills or snow trodden in on frozen Cheshire days.

For bathrooms, waterproof vinyl or laminate flooring is a good option. If you want the luxury of hardwood for wet areas, waterproof hardwood it could be worth investing in waterproof hardwood.
