Interior designers identify flooring trends to avoid

A recent report from Insider asked interior designers about the home decor trends they advise people not to follow.

Joe Cangelosi of Joe Cangelosi Design says that wall-to-wall white carpets may have a clean and classic look, but they can soon look stained and are difficult to clean. Instead, he advises using wood floors and the addition of white rugs for those that want a touch of white in a room, as long as they are regularly cleaned.

The owner of Cherry Tree Interior Design, Lisa Modica, says that if you can afford it, it’s worth spending extra for wood flooring, rather than laminate flooring that has a wood look. Wood flooring is a great investment as it adds value to a home and makes it more attractive for homebuyers. If you want more sustainable flooring, use bamboo or reclaimed wood. Modica recommends getting rid of fitted carpets and opting for solid flooring, such as wood, stone or tiles, with perhaps one or two stylish rugs.

Jessica Welling of Jessica Welling Interiors advises installing lighter wood flooring. Very dark wood looks good but needs cleaning more regularly, as it shows dirt and dust. She says that better quality wood flooring is preferable, as it is more durable and is especially suitable for busy households with children.

Wood is a natural product that has a classic look that doesn’t go out of style, unlike most trends. This makes wood flooring in Cheshire and Wirral homes a great choice that many households opt for.
