Increasing your home’s value with new flooring

Installing a new floor in your home could increase the value of your property by more than the cost of the flooring itself.

When it comes to selling your home, the quality and design of the fixtures and fittings affects its value and how quickly the house can be sold. Katrina Turrill, writing for the Daily Express website, looked at the current costs of installing new floors in your home and how they can affect property values.

She found that the best flooring for your house is solid wood flooring, as it creates the impression of luxury and class. Spending between £400 and £600 on wooden flooring could increases the value of your home by as much as £1,300.

Turrill found that not all flooring will add value. Low-quality vinyl can lower the value, so it is wise to avoid it.

The second-best covering is a high-quality laminate flooring that mimics the appearance and feel of natural wood. Laminates come with knots, grains and V-grooves that resemble wooden planks.

Good quality carpeting is fine as long as its pattern is not too bold. Though wooden floors are best in living areas, they are not suitable for kitchen and bathroom areas, where they could be damaged by liquids. For these areas, it is advisable to use a good quality water-resistant laminate is best.

Installing the best quality solid flooring in your Cheshire home will add that luxury feel as well as maintaining the value of your property.
