Grey and white great with wood flooring

According to Sally Narraway, writing for the website Livingetc, the classic combination of grey and white colours is ideal for rooms that have wood floors.

With more of us spending time at home due to the COVID-19 virus, many want a relaxed feel for their living spaces. Mid shades of grey and white help create a laid-back atmosphere, and Narraway says that these colours look great when paired with the natural tones of wood.

Designer Shea McGee says that wood flooring brings a space to life. She likes to combine wood elements with grey rugs, sofas and soothing wall paintings of landscapes.

Most rooms have a white or light-coloured ceiling. In rooms with white or light grey features and light wood floors, a dark grey ceiling adds dramatic effect without making the space look too dark or sombre.

Sandie Wallman of Nordic House recommends a Scandi style of decor. She told Livingetc:

“Calm colours softened with a selection of tactile textures such as natural sheepskin, linens, candles and plants – all warmed with timber elements, will inspire that much sought-after Nordic simplicity.”

Chrissie Rucker, the founder of the White Room, is a champion of the colour white, which she likes for its versatility and simplicity. She favours white and neutral tones, combined with natural materials like wood, stone and plants.

Wood flooring in Cheshire homes is natural floor covering that looks great in rooms that have either bright, bold colours or a more neutral palette.
