The global wood and laminate flooring market to reach almost $100 billion by 2020

A report titled “Wood and Laminate Flooring Market Analysis” by Orbis Research has predicted that the global market for wood and laminate flooring will grow to $92.64 billion (£73.15 billion) by 2020.

The report explains that the growth will be driven by innovative new wood and laminate flooring products. Orbis says that the increased demand for wood and laminate flooring will be both from the commercial and residential markets.

The growth should be achieved despite a rise in the cost of raw materials used to make wood and laminate floor coverings and increases in production costs.

Engineered wooden floors have been increasingly popular over the last few years. They are cost effective and durable. Solid wood maintains a healthy market share. Although solid wooden flooring is not expensive, it does take extra time to both lay and finish and as a result, this takes solid wooden flooring out of the budget flooring category. Most solid wood flooring is made from hardwoods, though there is a small niche market for softwoods.

Although wood and laminate flooring are mainly used in residential areas, the report notes that there is an increasing demand for commercial laminate and wood floors. Modern laminate flooring is hard wearing and this makes it attractive for commercial users. Furthermore, wood is popular in cold climates as it can help maintain heat.

When it comes to choosing solid flooring for your North Wales home, consider laminate or wood flooring for good looking and hard wearing floors.
