Flooring expert compares Karndean to laminate

Jeff White, a flooring expert who writes for the website timesconnection.com, has compared laminate flooring to Karndean. Though both have merits, he recommends Karndean as the best choice.

Karndean is a type of vinyl flooring made from five layers, the components of which include polyvinyl chloride, calcium carbonate and pigments. Compared to laminate, Karndean is more resistant to moisture and temperature.

Karndean also has acoustic properties that reduce noise levels in a busy room, and it can withstand extreme cold or hot temperatures. In addition, it is waterproof, and, whilst it may not withstand prolonged immersion during a flood, it is resistant to everyday moisture.

The flooring is available in a variety of natural-looking colours and styles.

However, White is not dismissive of laminate flooring. It is durable, easy to clean and looks stylish. While it is not as suitable for high moisture areas, like bathrooms and washrooms, as Karndean is, it is suitable for many other areas.

Laminate flooring is generally less expensive than Karndean, so the choice between them often comes down to budget. If users can afford Karndean, then its benefits make it the more advantageous choice. For a smaller budget, laminate flooring is also suitable.

As White points out, Karndean is considered to be superior to laminate flooring, but he also writes that:

“Laminates have over the years been considered as the preferred go-to solution for functional and inexpensive flooring.”

Karndean and laminate flooring in Wirral and Cheshire homes are popular choices for homeowners and businesses that want a hardwearing floor that is easy to maintain.
