Clerkenwell Design Week showcases best floor designs

Clerkenwell Design Week recently took place showcasing the best in architecture and interior design. Several floor covering manufacturers exhibited their latest products and technology.

Artwood is a UK based manufacturer that showed its bespoke timber flooring which is hand finished. Durafloor revealed its latest carpet tiles, and Gerfloor previewed its latest range of vinyl flooring.

Hawkwood, a Dutch flooring manufacturer, in conjunction with the interior company, Shape London installed a pop-up scene at Spa Fields that looked like a street of Dutch townhouses that were decorated with pink tiles. Each house had a small door, behind which were miniature interiors featuring Hawkwood floors.

Forbo floors presented its range of sustainable floor coverings that can be printed with various patterns and are designed to be hard wearing.

TDO architects created polystyrene way-finding structures that were designed to highlight the issue of material sustainability. It is a little known fact that polystyrene is a sustainable material as it is made of 98% air, and the rest can be endlessly recycled. Polystyrene is not used as floor covering, but many floor manufacturers are making floor coverings out of materials which, like polystyrene, are manufactured from recycled materials.

Clerkenwell Design Week is a great place to see the latest development in floor coverings. It can inspire and inform North West interior designers, about the best vinyl or hardwood flooring options for new Liverpool floor installations.
