Carpet cleaners help flood victims

Carpet cleaners are coming to the aid of the elderly victims of the recent floods.

Companies that offer carpet cleaning in Cheshire are used to dealing with the occasional water-damaged carpet, but in areas affected by the December floods there are hundreds of damaged carpets that require cleaning or replacing.

After the

recent floods in the North of England subsided, residents and businesses were faced with a massive clean-up operation. Renovating the home is particularly difficult for the elderly who do not have the stamina required or the funds to pay professional cleaners. Due to the high insurance premiums charged in flooded areas, not everybody has taken out adequate insurance to cover the flood damage.

Parts of Calderdale including Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Mytholmroyd were particularly hard hit by the floods. Premises that were badly flooded needed to throw away all their carpets, but in other premises, carpets and rugs needed a good thorough clean.

Paul Thomson the owner of Projex Property Services, a Calderdale property management company, offered to provide free carpet cleaning to all Calderdale pensioners whose homes were flooded. This news was welcomed by pensioners whose carpets were damaged by the floods.

The Good Housekeeping Institute has issued carpet advice for people whose carpet and rugs have been damaged by floodwater. As soon as possible use a wet-dry vacuum cleaner to remove most of the water. Then remove the carpet and hire a professional carpet cleaning company to clean and restore it.
